Race against time! Can Cable and Domino defeat the sinister Post - before Cable's tehcno-virus takes over for good?
Synopsis
After the funeral for Cable's son Tyler, Cable immediately takes Domino to Camp Hayden to investigate the mysterious name of Onslaught. Instead of finding the place empty, as reported by Siryn, Meltdown, and Domino, the two find the facility jam-packed with enemies. Domino wants to talk about Tyler - as he is the one who messed with Grizzly's mind and made her kill him - but Cable lets the chaotic situation serve as an excuse to avoid the topic.
Post, apparently an old acquaintance of Cable's, as well as a herald of Onslaught, methodically follows Cable and Domino through the compound.
As they shoot their way through the military base, Domino also notes that Cable's techno-organic virus seems to be flaring up. She's not sure what has happened to him, but sees that he is using his guns more in this fight than his mutant abilities. At one point, the two are grabbed by robotic arms. Cable uses a grenade to clear the problems and shields he and Domino with his telekinesis. His arm goes on the fritz as he struggles to stitch himself back together due to his extra exertion.
Cable and Domino eventually make it to a monitoring station and look for video evidence that could give them a glimpse of whomever initially cleared out the base or beefed it back up in the name of Onslaught. This slight reprieve gives Domino the chance to push Cable one more time regarding his feelings about Tyler. Cable caves and notes that Tyler was driven crazy and became a casualty of war. He alleviates some of Domino's guilt by assuring her that she did the best she could with Grizzly. They then find the right memory chip and nearly analyze it when they are attacked again and the chip is hit with magnetism. Thwarted, Cable and Domino escape through the sewers.
In Blaquesmith's frigate liner, Blaquesmith looks over Cable's file and wonders how to help his friend. A figure confronts Blaquesmith and acknowledges that Cable keeps winning battles because he has Blaquesmith in his corner. The figure blows up the frigate.
